Alumni Spotlight: Hanover Recruiting at American

In brief, what is your role at Hanover? 

As a Development Associate, I work directly with the Development Director of a particular practice here at Hanover to drive new business for the company. I research prospective partners and clients and am responsible for scheduling the first connection between the Director and their leads. In short, I perform the initial outreach that ultimately initiates new opportunities and help to facilitate the sales process, which is critical to company’s growth and longevity.

Why did you decide to work at Hanover?

Like many recent graduates, I was unsure of where to go after leaving American University. Fortunately, a friend of mine, a fellow AU alumna, had worked at Hanover for almost a year, and she encouraged me to apply. After learning more about the goals and culture of the company, as well as the opportunities available for advancement and professional growth, I knew it would be a great place to begin my post-grad life.

In your opinion, what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?

Undoubtedly, what set Hanover apart from other organizations are its culture and its people. As a quickly growing market research company, Hanover has a vibrant, young atmosphere, filled with supportive peers and coworkers that liven up the workday. When I first started at Hanover, everyone raved about how nice their coworkers are, and I can happily admit that it’s the honest to goodness truth!

Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?
No matter what position you hold at Hanover, you’ll have a supportive work environment that will allow you to develop the skills you acquired at AU and give you the opportunity to directly contribute to the progress of one of DC’s fastest growing companies. What’s more, there are lots of opportunities to move up or around in the company, so that’s a huge advantage for recent graduates who wish to pursue advancement or want to try out a different role within the organization.

What is your favorite part of your job/the company?
While there are many great aspects of working at Hanover, my favorite part of the day is whenever I get to spend time with my coworkers, whether that means collaborating and sharing ideas in a meeting or going out after work to Happy Hour or a Nationals game. Hanover is also passionate about community service and constantly provides outlets for its employees to give back. One afternoon, I volunteered with Hanover at Kid Power in DC, assisting kids with crafts and sporting events during their summer programming. Coming from AU, a campus that thrives on public and community service, I found this experience extremely rewarding, and I’m proud that Hanover values service as much as I do.
