In brief, what is your role at Hanover?
As a Senior Research Associate for the Market Insight Center, I conduct market evaluations for clients looking to enter or expand into new markets. In my position, I learn about all kinds of industries, from extremely technical biotech fields to something as simple as chicken. My research is almost all through secondary sources, though I’ve had the opportunity to work on survey and interview design as well.
Why did you decide to work at Hanover?
Hanover gives me the opportunity to conduct research and draft reports that affect important decisions. So much of what I was doing before in policy was ultimately filed into a database that no one ever read.
In your opinion, what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?
I think that Hanover is vibrant, young, and growing in ways that you just don’t see much in Washington. Other organizations are so often stuffy and stagnant, both in their culture and their head count. Hanover is an organization that grows and take risks, and where individuals go above and beyond to help that growth.
Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?
American University, and SIS in particular, has become very adept at instilling good research methodology in its students. Hanover Research’s Market Insight Center offers the methodological expertise of its researchers as its main selling point. If you work here, what you studied and perfected over your time at AU will be your strongest asset.
What is your favorite part of your job/the company?
My favorite part of the company is being able to interact with so many incredibly smart people every day. Employees here are inquisitive and enthusiastic – just like students at AU. If you’ve ever had a conversation focused on creating a rigorous and logical way to investigate some meaningless question for no reason, you will be among friends.
Hanover will be at American on September 30th, see you there!
