Alumni Spotlight: Hanover Recruiting at Georgetown

Satkowski-Pic_pageGeorgetown: Christina
In brief, what is your role at Hanover?

I’m a content analyst with Hanover’s K-12 Education Practices. I prepare literature reviews, best practices reports, surveys, and other products for school districts, independent schools, and other K-12 partners across the country. I work on topics ranging from elementary literacy and special education to bullying and conflict resolution..

Why did you decide to work at Hanover?

I have always had a deep personal interest in K-12 education. I had worked on education issues before coming to Hanover, both in the U.S. and abroad. What makes Hanover different is that we work directly with district superintendents and other school leaders to respond to the most important needs in their community. As a result, researchers at Hanover have many roles: investigator, analyst, writer, and problem solver. Our clients tell us that our work makes a difference in the lives of their students.

In your opinion, what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?

Hanover’s employees come from a variety of backgrounds. My colleagues studied all kinds of subjects in college and graduate school and have a variety of previous professional experience. In fact, I was surprised to discover that so many of my colleagues had international experience like me! Hanover encourages us all to foster our curiosity, constantly develop our skills, and learn from each other’s experience. We have a very friendly culture here at Hanover.

Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?
Hanover is a great environment for people who are lifelong learners. Every week, I am working on new topics in education, expanding my knowledge, and challenging myself. In particular, Hanover can be a great place for people with traditional academic backgrounds who are interested in transitioning to consulting.

What is your favorite part of your job/the company?
Everyone at Hanover works hard and cares about the work that we do. But, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have fun! Hanover has a very collegial work atmosphere – our staff is constantly organizing community service projects, games, and happy hours.

Hanover will be at Georgetown on February 19th, see you there!
