In brief, what is your role at Hanover?
I am currently a Senior Research Associate with Hanover’s Market Insight Center (MIC). I produce market evaluation and research scoping reports for our business-to-business clients, which range from small regional companies to major global firms.
Why did you decide to work at Hanover?
I decided to work at Hanover for three reasons. First, I appreciated the fact that the company values an individual’s intellectual curiosity, which is something that I’ve always sought to foster in my career. Second, I loved the fact that the company offers its employees numerous formal and informal opportunities to develop their research and analysis skills. Finally, I respected the company’s efforts to not only work with enterprise clients, but also work with non-profit and educational clients to make a difference in the lives of others. Given that I want to feel good about the organization that I work for, these three factors made it easy for me to apply to and work for Hanover.
In your opinion, what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?
That’s easy: the opportunities for growth within the company. As someone who came to Hanover from a policy and international relations background, I witnessed many instances where talented individuals could not rise to leadership positions in policy research environments due to their lack of PhD degree. While individuals with advanced degrees may have some advantages over individuals without these degrees at Hanover, the company does a great job of finding and promoting the best researchers to leadership positions regardless of their academic or professional background. Given that few research organizations match Hanover’s dedication to merit-based promotions, I think that makes the company incredibly unique in the professional research industry.
Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?
As a graduate of a mission-driven liberal arts college and a professionally-oriented international relations Master’s degree, I think that Hanover offers incredible opportunities for individuals from these programs to carry out substantive research work across various industries and settings in the enterprise, education, and non-profit sectors. I can’t think of another place where graduates from my programs will have access to this work and great opportunities for growth in their careers.
What is your favorite part of your job/the company?
Given that I always try to foster my sense of intellectual curiosity, I love the fact that I receive a wide range of projects with different topics that keeps me intellectually engaged in my work at Hanover.
