In brief, what is your role at Hanover?
As a Senior Development Associate on the Healthcare Team, I directly support our Managing Director and collaborate with my team through the sales process. More specifically, I begin the sales process by strategically prospecting my territory, contacting and scheduling phone meetings with contacts, editing collateral, and providing support through various stages of the sales cycle. Being promoted to a Senior Associate provided the additional opportunity to interview prospective candidates, mentor Associates, and explore different departments of the company to identify my future path at Hanover.
Why did you decide to work at Hanover?
Following graduation, I wasn’t completely sure where I wanted to take my marketing degree, but knew that I wanted to move to the metro DC area. After meeting the Hanover recruiting team at the JMU Career Fair, I was drawn to the young company culture and numerous growth opportunities. It was also attractive to be in a challenging and competitive environment where “work hard, play hard” is a common motto and motivator.
In your opinion, what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?
It may sound cliché, but the people and company culture differentiates Hanover from other organizations. I am constantly surrounded by colleagues who are intelligent, driven, creative, and entertaining, to say the least. Also, it is rare to be at a company with such rich growth, where employees have the opportunity both to mentor individuals and to shadow others in areas ranging from recruiting to account management to finance. In short, if you want to advance within Hanover in a short amount of time, you have the opportunity to do so.
Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?
The company culture and my colleagues remind me of backing back in good old Harrisonburg, making it an easy transition from JMU to Hanover. This may be why we have so many fellow Dukes in our company. Being surrounded by smart, funny, and hardworking people makes it easy to come to work every morning. It also doesn’t hurt to mention the time we beat Virginia Tech when hanging out with fellow Dukes in the office!
What is your favorite part of your job/the company?
One word: growth! At Hanover, your success is put into your own hands, making you in control of your development within the company.
