Ashby Manson – a Senior Account Management Associate on the Education team – has been with Hanover for a year and a half. She graduated from UVA with her Bachelor’s in International Relations and Affairs. Ashby joined Hanover as a Development Associate after spending some time in Non-Profits after graduation and has moved up rapidly since then.
- What’s been your most memorable experience with Hanover, to date?
It’s really difficult to pick just one, since I’ve become close with a number of my colleagues, but I really enjoyed last year’s Holiday party. I loved getting together with people before and then heading out and seeing everyone from the company in one place having a great time and all dressed up for the festivities. I have some great photo booth pictures to prove it!
- What skills can new Hanoverians expect to learn?
One of the things that I’ve loved about Hanover most is that I’ve been given ample opportunities to not only hone in on some of the skills that you would expect to come with a development position, like pitching over the phone or skillfully managing multiple calendars, but to also amplify skills that I think are my strong suit. I’ve been given opportunities to present to teams, help train new Associates, and learn to better coach and manage people, among other things. Being able to do this has not only strengthened me as an employee, but opened new possibilities within the company.
- Why did you choose Hanover, and why should others work here?
Coming from a small non-profit, I was looking to join a company in the DC area that was big (but not too big), young (but not too young), and well-established (but not too stiff). It’s hard finding a Goldilocks company like that, but I was so happy when I stumbled upon the Hanover listing. Everyone I spoke with over the phone, Skype, and in-person made it seem like it would be the ideal fit for what I wanted in my new company. So far, it hasn’t let me down!
Hanover will be at UVA on October 25th, see you there!
