Alumni Spotlight: Hanover Recruiting at University of Virginia

University of Virginia– Francesca Nacu, Business Development Associate (NYC)

FrancescaNacuIn brief, what is your role at Hanover?

As a Business Development Associate for the Hanover’s new Technology practice, I serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients. My Director and I work together in researching accounts worth pursuing within our territory and exploring outreach strategies based on the ever-changing and wide variety of research needs within the tech industry. Ultimately, we’re here to help Hanover expand into this untapped market.

Why did you decide to work at Hanover?

I pinpointed Hanover as my top choice when I started my job search. I wanted to work for a firm that is reputable and values its employees. Especially here at the NYC office, because it’s such a fresh practice, it almost feels like a start-up within a much larger firm. We all pitch in ideas and they are equally considered regardless of what your role is. In turn, we’re extremely motivated to perform well both as a team and individually.

In your opinion, what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?

Our unique model. We’re experts on research methodologies and therefore able to tailor our offerings and successfully address the needs of our clients from diverse industries. This is a quality that is hard to find in larger niche-oriented consulting firms.

Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?

Coming from a public ivy, UVA students can’t deny that we’re a little competitive in just about any endeavor.  Hanover’s growth is attributed to the meritocratic system it cultivates: employees’ upward mobility is based on the amount of effort they put in the job. As long as you have a clear vision of what you want to do and work hard for it, you’ll surely get there with the overwhelming support of your peers and seniors.

What is your favorite part of your job/the company?

The people for sure! We all get to be part of a vibrant working culture. I almost feel like we’re too spoiled with Happy Hours, meals, game tickets, and outings! Here at the NYC office, for example, we do things like DJ FranFiesta Fridays (i.e., I play strictly old school hip-hop and dance/house) and Cindy Mondays where one of our Directors brings his dog in.

Hanover will be at University of Virginia on Wednesday, October 26th. See you there!
