April Community Service Event: Homeward Trails event

On Saturday, April 25th, a group of Hanoverians volunteered for the second year at an adoption event held at the Unleashed Petco store in Pentagon Row through Homeward Trails. Homeward Trails is a non-profit organization that provides pet adoption in Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland. They find homes for dogs and cats rescued from high-kill animal shelters or whose owners could no longer care for them or were found as strays. This event included pet adoption agencies from all across the region and featured pet contests, pet portrait photos, exhibitions, and more.

Hanoverians worked at the Homeward Trails Animal Rescue table and helped visitors meet dogs up for adoption and shared how they could help homeless dogs or cats by donating, volunteering, fostering, or adopting. Homeward Trails volunteers talked to shoppers about animals available for adoption and the adoption process. As you can see from the photos, there were a lot of smiles and wags at the event! We loved being able to share our time for this worthwhile cause again and encourage anyone considering a new pet or adding to their pet family to check out their website and submit an adoption questionnaire!
