On January 22, 2015, Hanover Research was excited to welcome a brand new affinity group devoted to LGBTQ employees and their allies!
Hanover Pride envisions a workplace in which all employees are empowered to be authentic contributors to the company’s mission and purpose based on the lived experience of equal opportunity and choice, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. While Hanover has always been an inclusive workplace, Hanover Pride’s founding members (Dessie Otachliska, Matthew Sellman, McKinley Sherrod and Hannah Stopnicki) believed it was important to institutionalize this attitude and provide a safe space for the professional development of LGBTQ and allied employees as the company grows.
Attendance at Hanover Pride’s kick-off meeting filled the fourth floor training room, though whether staff members were drawn in by a lively discussion of the group’s direction or its snack offerings is still unclear. Attendees reviewed the mission, vision, and values of the new group and then broke out into small groups to discuss potential volunteer and event opportunities.
Hanover Pride will publish a monthly newsletter with interesting articles and news about the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia LGBTQ community, as well as host bimonthly roundtable discussions about pertinent issues. These activities aim to promote dialogue, foster a sense of community, and offer a chance for employees to connect across seniority and sector.
Hanover Research is pleased to add Hanover Pride to its growing collection of affinity groups!
