The biggest factor in choosing to apply for an internship position at Hanover Research was the opportunity to work on Paragon K12, a web-based teacher selection software tool designed to help school districts hire teachers who will have the greatest potential for impact on student success. Paragon K12 is currently used in many districts across the country. My own background and interest in engineering management and product development made me a perfect fit for supporting Paragon K12.
Paragon K12 falls under the Strategy and New Product Development team, which focuses on researching unmet client needs, performing gap analyses in the market, and evaluating new market opportunities. In my view, evaluating new market opportunities and developing new products are the most important aspects of the department, as it helps the company grow and branch out.
The strategy team is a small group of very intelligent analysts, from whom I have had the opportunity to learn many new skills, from conducting primary and secondary research to survey design and competitive intelligence.
I joined the strategy team and, in particular, the Paragon team to work alongside Joel Sackett, the product manager for Paragon K12. I assist him in various projects ranging from competitive intelligence, market research, and vendor assessments to general product development. Currently, I am six weeks into my internship, but the experience has been immersive. I have had the opportunity to learn about Paragon K12 from day one and involve myself in all things Paragon K12. I am reaping the benefits of being part of a small team and having hands-on experience with the product.
I look forward to growing with the company the same way that Paragon K12 keeps growing from district to district.
