In brief, what is your role at Hanover?
I’m a Senior Content Analyst in Hanover’s Market Insight Center. In this position, my most important job is interpreting clients’ requests and providing in-depth market research reports that address these requests. I frequently communicate these findings with clients and assist them in the development of future projects for Hanover to research. As one of the more senior analysts on the team, I also provide guidance for newer or less-experienced researchers on their projects.
Why did you decide to work at Hanover?
What originally drew me to Hanover was the pace at which we complete projects and the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of different industries. After spending too many years to mention on my doctoral dissertation, I was really looking for an opportunity to do something that would provide quicker turnaround times, a steeper learning curve, and allow me to broaden my expertise. Hanover provided the opportunity to combine all of these desires while still employing all the research skills I had used throughout my academic career.
In your opinion what sets Hanover apart from other organizations?
Hanover’s rate of growth and the opportunities that affords its employees genuinely distinguishes the company from its peers. In its current growth stage, Hanover is able to offer the advancement opportunities and flexibility of a start-up while still providing the stability of a larger organization. With such a high rate of growth and a constant need for new employees in new roles, your career at Hanover can take a variety of trajectories. Even in only six months at the company I’ve seen my day-to-day responsibilities change almost completely from when I originally started. You have to take initiative in framing your own career at Hanover, but the organization’s structure truly provides employees the opportunity to make their career whatever they want it to be. It’s genuinely exciting to be part of a company whose upward trajectory is so clear.
Why should graduates at your alma mater be interested in working at Hanover?
Hanover presents the opportunity to utilize all the skills of the liberal arts education you received at UC. To be an effective researcher at Hanover, you need to utilize both quantitative and qualitative abilities. You need to be able to read, write, and communicate verbally at a high level, so you really draw on all of your previous education for each project. One of the most interesting things about working at Hanover is that employees are not just part of an assembly line putting together the final product. Each person has responsibility for completing nearly every aspect of a project from beginning to end. This means integrating a wide variety of skills into each project you work on. Few employers can offer the opportunity to utilize such a wide range of individual abilities on every project.
What is your favorite part of your job/the company?
In my position I am constantly confronted with a new, puzzling scenario to solve. Our clients’ requests are frequently quite complicated and you have to use a wide range of skills to provide guidance to the client. Each project is like being presented with a new and unique problem. Even if the product or company may not be the single most interesting subject in the world, there is also something interesting in the details of the client’s request. If you enjoy in-depth problem solving, Hanover will keep you constantly interested and engaged.
