Being a Development Associate at Hanover Research (Arlington office)

No amount of preparation or advice will ever make you truly ready for the transition from college life into adulthood. Where to work and how to develop professional skills as you start down the path are some of the toughest questions we must answer at this stage. For me, accepting the offer to work for Hanover was an easy decision, and it has proved to be the right one. Every day I am surrounded by peers who are intelligent and managers who care about my professional development and me as an individual. Hanover is a warm environment that’s filled with constant surprises and opportunities to learn.

In less than a year, I have had the pleasure of watching my mentor progress from an associate, to a senior associate, to a manager. Hanover prides itself on developing from the grassroots, and as it continues to grow as a company, it makes sure that its employees grow as well. Hanover offers a variety of classes and workshops to help employees gain new professional skills and develop their existing ones. The best part is that any Hanover employee can attend any of these sessions! I recently completed Hanover’s leadership training academy, which provided me with insights into my own professional strengths and growth areas, and how to use them to increase my efficiency and create a better working environment in which I can flourish. These are skills that I will take with me regardless of where my career path leads me.

I don’t want to undersell the many challenges that are part of being an associate. However, as long as you’re willing to put in the work, Hanover will provide you with all the tools you need to succeed. I wasn’t the strongest associate when I started and I’ve had to overcome challenges during my tenure. Fortunately, I’ve had the professional support and encouragement of my managers, directors, and fellow associates. From early mornings to after hours, my manager worked with me every step of the way. I look forward to my future growth here and proudly call myself a Hanoverian.
